Auto Testing – Driver’s License

Requirements for Automobile Driver Testing

18 yrs. and older:

  1. Valid Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP).
  2. Current Proof of Insurance for the vehicle.
  3. Current Registration for the vehicle.
  4. Vehicle must be in good working order: BRAKE LIGHTS (INCLUDING center-back brake light), HORN, windshield wipers, turn signals, tires, no cracks in windshield, etc.

UNDER 18 yrs. old:

  1. Level 1 Learner’s License (permit) from MI Secretary of State. Must be 6 months from issue date.
  2. Segment 2 certificate (white card with red print) OR (full sheet paper with EXM #)
  3. Driving log (Acceptable forms: Handwritten or RoadReady App.  Must be at least 50 hours, including 10 hours of night driving).
  4. Current Proof of Insurance for the vehicle.
  5. Current Registration for the vehicle.
  6. Vehicle must be in good working order: BRAKE LIGHTS (INCLUDING center-back brake light), HORN, windshield wipers, turn signals, tires, no cracks in windshield, etc.
  7. Parent or legal guardian.

*HUMPHREY’S DRIVER TRAINING STUDENTS*  Be sure to tell us who your behind-the-wheel instructor was for Segment 1.

Have your Permit and Segment 2 certificate (if applicable) ready when scheduling your test.

You will need to give us the following information:

  1. Name
  2. Phone #
  3. Driver License #
  4. Date of Birth
  5. Issue Date of Permit
  6. Expiration Date of Permit
  7. Segment 2 Certificate # (under 18)
